Capsule Endoscopy

A capsule endoscopy is a minimally invasive test that uses a tiny, wireless camera to take pictures throughout the small intestine to help detect any problems. The tiny wireless camera is vitamin-sized capsule that you swallow, and it begins to take pictures of the digestive tract, transmitting the images onto a recorder that you wear around your waist or abdomen as it travels naturally through your digestive tract.

This innovative test allows your gastroenterologist to recognize any potential abnormalities inside of your small intestine. Once the test is complete, you will return the recorder to the office where the images will be downloaded from the recorder for your gastroenterologist to review. Once the images have been reviewed, you will be contacted with the results.

The capsule is disposable and passes naturally with your bowel movement. If you have not passed the capsule, please notify the office.
